Profile: Emily Slater
Emily manages the development of the Maternal Mental Health Alliance’s campaigning work, and is also a freelance facilitator and project manager. Her background is in campaigning and education within human rights and international development initiatives, including for ActionAid, the Institute of Education and Save the Children. Emily experienced severe postnatal depression after the birth of her son in 2009, following which she founded with her partner the campaigning organisation, Break the Silence – PNI. Emily has a passion for facilitating projects with diverse groups and for seeing issues in their global contexts. She has been fortunate to work for extended periods of time in Russia, Japan, Italy and Switzerland, as well as to learn from working closely with organisations in several other regions of the world. Emily is extremely excited at the potential impact of the campaigning development work, as well as at being part of the team at APP.
