Bekah’s poem: The Darkness

Bekah experienced postpartum psychosis after the birth of her first child in 2024.
This is a poem she wrote when in recovery and her child first wrapped his little arms around her. It reminded her that despite everything she had been through, there was still light in the world. He was and forever will be, that light.

The Darkness

The darkness felt impossible to escape,
I felt everything and nothing all at once,
And suddenly there you were, wrapping me in your arms,
There you were, telling me to stay calm
There you were, my light.
