Charlotte's poem: Flash of Light
Charlotte experienced PP in 2012 and 2016 after the births of both her children. This poem and picture are about her relationship with her daughter.
Flash of Light
There was no light
Biblical rain
The water level rises
Turning the ducks safe haven to mud
We could not leave
Prisoners in the cottage
Day rolled into night as the demand on my body never ceased
Was this small human that arrived early Jesus come again?
Would she provide salvation?
Heal the wounds of our broken nation
Dancing through the night
Flash of blue light
Prisoner in the white place of safety
Wrenched from the new life I had bore
Christmas comes and the new child receives no worship
A false equilibrium is gleaned from within silver packaging
Together we heal
She is my salvation
