The Alex Baish Memorial Webinar 2025: a free webinar for frontline health professionals.

On Wednesday 8th October APP hosted the Alex Baish Memorial Webinar for frontline health professionals working with families in the perinatal period.

Suicide is the leading cause of maternal death in the UK and rates are increasing nationally. This free webinar was open to frontline health professionals including GPs, midwives, health visitors and antenatal educators.

APP experts, women and families with lived experience and clinicians highlighted the early signs and symptoms of postpartum psychosis and discussed how frontline health professionals can work with perinatal mental health teams to help prevent maternal suicides. Presentations included lived experience from APP's Rich Baish, Shaheda Akhtar and Dr Sally Wilson. Pete's Dragon's Alison Jordan shared vital tips for suicide prevention including safety planning conversations and tools to use with women and their families.

This was the third webinar in APP's series. Nearly 10,000 health professionals have now been reached by the webinar series.
